During the Mahabharata period, after being defeated by the Kauravas in a game of dice, the Pandavas had to live in exile for 13 years. They lost all their wealth, property and kingdom. The Pandavas were unhappy with this. Draupadi and Bhima blamed Yudhishthira for their plight. Yudhishthira certainly felt guilty but he was also completely dedicated to the observance of Dharma. That is why he gladly accepted the punishment of exile.
In the context of the life wisdom given by King Janak of Mithila, Shaunak Muni preaches Yudhishthira on various aspects of life during the forest period. Under that, he also preaches on topics related to finance and commerce. The wisdom related to finance and commerce imparted during that period is equally relevant even today. Some of them are as follows:
Just as a human being is afraid of death, a rich person too is always afraid of the king, water, fire, thieves, robbers and his own family members.
If we talk about financial matters, is this statement not equally accurate even today? A businessman, whether he is at the highest level or the lowest level, is always afraid of the government. Who knows at what time it will impose which additional tax! Or which rule will be changed which will ruin their business in a moment! Apart from this, a war between two countries or the ever-changing equation between two political groups also has an adverse effect on international and national trade. A vivid example of this is the Russia-Ukraine war, which has had an adverse effect on many international businesses.
When the effects of water and fire are mentioned, it refers to natural and man-made disasters. Both are risky crises from the business perspective as well. Due to these, products can suffer heavy damage. There can be obstacles in the smooth movement of goods. Due to different levels of technology, a common customer remains unaware of these complexities. But the truth is that business and trade are carried out on a solid ground in which movement of people and goods is an important part. In the current context, there is a threat of attack on digital infrastructure by anti-social elements.
Before the emergence of digital technology, we were worried about the physical safety of our property, assets, cash and family members. But the advent of digital technology has also affected the security system. While on one hand we are managing to protect our property through the latest technology, on the other hand, some antisocial elements skilled in the same digital technology are using the same technology at twice the speed. We all live in fear that when someone will make innovative use of this technology and loot our property. That is why it is very important for businessmen to keep their security system continuously strong.
It is said that thieves and robbers are the first and best consumers of new technologies. This is a kind of cop-thief game that continues between thieves and businessmen. Or between government units and corrupt people.
The strange fact is that a rich person is afraid even of his family members. To establish a successful business, a group of trustworthy associates is required. But sometimes one of these associates betrays and becomes the biggest enemy. You Goddess Mahatmya I will remember the story of Samadhi Vaishya who was betrayed by his own family members. There Ramayana Vibhishan is considered to be the reason behind the downfall of Ravana. This incident gave birth to the popular saying, 'The one who betrays the family can destroy Lanka'.
Those family members or friends who are very close to us, know all the confidential facts related to us or our business. This information gives them the power by which they can harm us the most if they want.
Just as a bird in the sky, an animal on the land and a fish in the water snatches and grabs a piece of meat, similarly everyone is ready to grab some share of the wealth of a rich person.
As a rich person, you not only become the object of envy of others, but many people are also eager to snatch some part of your wealth. Some expect donations from you, some expect employment. At the same time, some people are eager to sell you their products or services. To get all this, they can use sweet words or flattery. Or else they can also do evil to you. It is very important for a rich person to know, identify and be cautious of such people.
In your life you will experience all possible categories like sky, land and water, whether they are family members or friends, whether they are employees or business relations, whether they are government or people asking for donations. Wherever there is a matter related to finance or money, we need to be careful of all these categories.
I guess this is the reason why most of the families of the Vaishya community shy away from showing off their wealth because by doing so they may attract unwanted elements. This is why they consider a simple life to be the best. Not like the families of the Kshatriya community, who show off their wealth to display their influence. What is your opinion on this matter?
3 ways to acquire property
You must have read in the Mahabharata that after losing their entire wealth and kingdom in a game of Chaupar, the Pandavas took refuge in the forest. They were spending their days in the forest eating roots and fruits. Draupadi found all this extremely distasteful. She did not want Yudhishthira and other Pandava brothers to continue getting self-satisfaction from such a life. She wanted Yudhishthira and other Pandava brothers to be ready to regain their lost kingdom and wealth. Therefore, she encouraged Yudhishthira to start efforts in this direction soon. She constantly told him that nothing can be achieved in life without action. Draupadi also made Yudhishthira aware of the Brihaspati Niti of action.
There are three means of acquiring wealth: karma, fate and nature.
We all know about karma, working to acquire wealth. It is within our control.
Luck is an element that joins us from birth. It is based on the deeds of our previous births. So, if by your luck you are born in a rich family, then you can become rich. By your luck you can win a lottery. Consider it as God's blessing but do not sit idle after getting wealth. You have got this wealth without any hard work but you will have to work hard to maintain it. If you have got this wealth effortlessly by the grace of your previous good deeds, then to get the same kind of wealth again, you will have to do the same good deeds again.
How you act depends on your innate nature. If your actions are in harmony with your nature, you will find joy in your actions and those actions will yield results accordingly. True Dharma and good deeds will give you joyful results. Perform true Dharma and good deeds with complete dedication, otherwise the same actions will seem like a burden.
An intelligent person first learns that there is fat inside a seed, there is milk inside a cow and there is fire inside a piece of wood. Then he searches for the means to milk them.
Draupadi Statements of Manu Quoting from – It is possible that even after doing your work, you may not get the desired result. In such a situation, we should analyze our deeds, what did we do wrong, where did we fall short and try to correct that mistake. Even if you do not get the desired result repeatedly, do not be disappointed. Our fate and God's grace also play a special role in getting the result of our deeds. So continue your continuous efforts.
If you do not do any work then there is no question of getting the result.
In matters related to finance and commerce, your efforts should be directed towards earning, enhancing and preserving. If you spend more than you earn, even wealth like the Himalayas will end one day. One who lives his life only at the mercy of fate will perish in the same way as a clay pot gets destroyed when water is filled in it. That is, it will be destroyed in a moment.
